Halifax, West Yorkshire, a small town of around 90,000 people nestled in the heart of the Pennines (if you were looking for Halifax, Nova Scotia feel free to jump off here).
The purpose of this web site is not to provide an encyclopedic marathon of information about Halifax, but more of a gentle stroll through its points of interest, its highlights and its attractions. As with any other town or city, you can find pretty much any information you wish with a few clicks on the internet. The aim of this site is to bring everything together under one roof as it were, with plenty of links to other sites if you want to take your interest a bit further.
Through the course of this site we will tell you something of Halifax's history, its geography and its architecture. Don't worry though, it's not all schoolwork. We will also include some info about arts & entertainment, sport and, best of all, eating and drinking. Oh, and some other stuff too.
Halifax is the main commercial and administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale, an area which also includes the towns of Brighouse, Elland, Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden. For information about Calderdale visit the council's web site - www.calderdale.gov.uk.
